Without bone volume there is no correct prosthetic position, hence the continuing relevance of the seventh volume of the ITI Treatment Guides, given over entirely to ridge augmentation procedures. It gathers the state of the evidence on techniques and materials, supported by the ITI consensus statements from Stuttgart and Bern and by a review of the literature, and examines implant placement in previously augmented sites and the results that can be expected. Twelve clinical cases illustrate planning and treatment across differing degrees of atrophy, from localised defects to more severe situations. A resource for surgeons and implantologists who rebuild the ridge before or during placement.
