What it is about

Raising a flap and luxating the tooth against the bony walls has a price: trauma, resorption of the crest and a poorer bed for the future implant. Mason proposes the opposite path — removing root structure systematically to create space into which what remains of the tooth can be displaced, rather than pushing it against the bone, thereby preserving the patient's original anatomy. The work develops that root space creation technique (RSCET) and applies it tooth by tooth — anterior maxilla and mandible, premolars, upper and lower molars — with the difficulties particular to each: thin bone, dense bone, roots that have to be sectioned. It includes the necessary instruments and guidance for an equally atraumatic anaesthetic.
