What it is about

Between what is published in the laboratory and what reaches the clinic there is a distance that Miron and Zhang set out to close. The work first reviews the biological basis and the applications of grafting materials — autografts, allografts, xenografts and alloplasts, with chapters of their own for autogenous bone and particulate dentine — and then develops the principles of guided tissue and bone regeneration: barrier membranes, platelet-rich fibrin, enamel matrix derivative, BMP-2, PDGF and FGF-2, hyaluronic acid and 3D-printed scaffolds. The final chapter is the most useful in practice, since it teaches how to select the right biomaterial for each protocol instead of always applying the same one. In English.
